During my stay in Wigan I dined out at times,and saying that funds were limited would be a gross understatement. I found that the ....Wetherspoon company has a lot of hotels or pubs as they are known. And they have a great (affordable) menu for lunches and dinners.
There are two in Wigan one in Wigan is called the Moon under water and the other the Brocket arms and I delighted in their fish and chip meals on several occasions. They theme George Orwell's Road to Wigan Pier. I visited England in 2016 and 2018, after a long absence I have posted some photos of places of interest to myself, and I hope you like them.
I hope the images of Wigan and district are of interest. Most of the images are of places that meant a lot to me in my formative years.
Wigan of today is a very different place to the one that I remember in the 1960s. Much, if not all the industry has now gone. The Wigan of today is an attractive town, however is affected by modern changes in retail, and many shops that were here for decades have now closed down. Places like Woolworth and British Home stores are now but memories. |
